According to the on board computer (which is much less flash than it sounds) the car has, in it's lifetime, averaged 44mpg and 30ish mph. I tend not to watch the moving average because I don't want to have to drive in the boring manner required to keep the mpg value in the 40s.

So what mpg were you getting? It's true that smaller engines don't do so well when pushed hard.

Yes, it is good to know that when push comes to shove the reflexes take over and the brake gets pressed hard. Ironically enough I'm more upset about the scratch on the door. The man appologised profusely for the prang and these things do happen, whereas the scratch was not appologised for and may have even been deliberate.

Eep, sorry to hear about that. Not pleasing when your motor gets damaged, but you seem to have handled the "coming together" well.

Platform 1 heads toward Sheringham which is away from Norwich and the London bound trains. That said Cromer is a branch station which kind of makes it the end of a line (albeit a very short bit of line).

The floral traffic island idea would work well with some of the villages along the coast road. Many of them have road signs mounted on sturdy square wooden posts rather than metal posts to make them look more rustic and in keeping with the setting and a floral arrangement would be even more in keeping.

Funny you should mention this. I was driving through Bavarian country roads today and remarked on how few 'drive carefully through the village' signs there were. There aren't even any proper speed limit signs either[1]. Just this seemingly unwritten rule that you go from 100km/h to 50 once you past the little traffic island with flowers on it and back to 100 when you pass the one on the other side.

I kind of like the idea that a village should be introduced with a floral traffic island :-)

[1] there are tiny yellow signs suggesting 100 if there isn't two-way traffic and 50 if there is, but I can't see a difference in the road. There even similar signs with a picture of a tank on. No idea what these mean.
